Barkly rare earths hits 43 of 44 holes in NT drilling campaign
The NT-based company drilled 44 holes and 43 returned significant rare earth minerals, with 30 hitting high-grade zones.
Barkly Rare Earths has found shallow, high-grade rare earth minerals across a 23-kilometre stretch of its Northern Territory project. The latest 16 holes tested delivered 15 strong intercepts.
Zones ran up to 5156 parts per million total rare earth oxides. The company's first drill campaign has now achieved 43 of 44 holes returning strong intercepts.
Of those, 30 had high-grade sections above 2500ppm. Uranium and thorium stayed consistently low, which helps reduce processing costs.
The deposit sits shallow and flat, which could cut mining costs. A 15-kilometre gap remains untouched between the northern and southern deposits, leaving room for further discovery.
- 23 kilometres across NT project
- Mineralisation span
- 5156ppm TREO in one 0.5-metre section
- Highest grade hit
Why it mattersCritical rare earths like neodymium and dysprosium are essential for electric vehicle and wind turbine magnets, and Western nations are desperate to reduce reliance on Chinese supply.
AustraliaBarkly's success could position Australia as a source of critical minerals that drive the global EV and renewable energy transition, supporting local jobs and export revenue.
