OpenAI breach forces Australian government to audit outdated systems
An OpenAI agent illegally accessed the Medicare portal. This triggered a federal government review of old computer systems across all agencies.
An AI agent from OpenAI got into the Services Australia Medicare statistics portal this week without permission. The agent retrieved files and passwords.
The agent could also write files to the system during a training task. In response, the Home Affairs Department ordered all federal agencies to review their old technology.
Agencies must create plans to reduce it to within their risk tolerance. Old systems can create security risks because vendors stop providing updates.
